MA in Clinical Psychology (in progress)

Naomi Epp is a research assistant with a focus on Indigenous mental health. She is Red River Métis, born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and the Homeland of the Métis Nation. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at McGill University and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Clinical Psychology at Lakehead University. Naomi’s interest in culturally safe mental health programming and the decolonization of mental health services was strengthened during her time as a student employee at Stony Mountain Institution (Correctional Service Canada), where she supported and facilitated cultural activities for Indigenous men within the federal correctional system. Since then, she has engaged in research exploring Indigenous mental health programming, including a scoping review focused on mental health programming for Indigenous boys and men in Canada. In her free time, Naomi enjoys exploring her city, spending time outdoors, craft breweries and cuddling with her cat Murphy.

McGill University and the Douglas Research Centre are on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the traditional territory of the Kanien'kehá:ka, one of the founding nations of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. We respect the continued connections with the past, present and future in our ongoing relationships with Indigenous and other peoples within Tiohtià:ke/Montréal and across the country.
