Ben Yeoh

(he/his)
MSc Student
BSc in Psychology

Ben is a graduate student starting his MSc in epidemiology at McGill under the supervision of Dr. Iyer. His academic journey thus far has been motivated by a curiosity for social determinants of mental health such as social connectedness and cultural background. Ben’s past research experience involved investigating loneliness as a predictor of cannabis use during the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. In the past year, Ben worked as a junior epidemiologist in the substance use and related harms division at the Public Health Agency of Canada which fostered his interest in using epidemiological methods to capture the dynamics of population mental health. Through his graduate studies, he aims to develop his research abilities to contribute to our understanding of social isolation and loneliness in relation to youth mental health. Since arriving in Montreal, Ben has been exploring the city, finding places to skateboard, and enjoying the comfort of reading in cafés.
