In early September 2025, Srividya Iyer, Tovah Cowan, Ruben Valle, Kevin MacDonald, and Giuseppe D'Andrea attended and presented at the Early Intervention in Mental Health Conference in Berlin.

Tovah gave an oral presentation on missing data in youth self-reports in mental health settings and a poster presentation on satisfaction in SARPEP clinics.

Kevin presented on a pan-Canadian Delphi study looking into learning health systems for early psychosis programs in Canada.

Ruben presented on the Implementation of early intervention in psychosis initiatives in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Giuseppe presented on pathways to care involving police or ambulance and disengagement rates in immigrant and racialized youth compared to the white majority.

Prof Iyer chaired multiple sessions, including on art as a pathway to Recovery; Innovations and challenges in including youth and family perspectives in early intervention in mental health; and strengthening and scaling early psychosis initiatives in low- and middle-income countries.

It was an excellent opportunity to learn from global leaders in the field, network with colleagues, and expand our understanding of what early intervention in youth mental health can look like. Much fun was also had exploring Berlin!

McGill University and the Douglas Research Centre are on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the traditional territory of the Kanien'kehá:ka, one of the founding nations of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. We respect the continued connections with the past, present and future in our ongoing relationships with Indigenous and other peoples within Tiohtià:ke/Montréal and across the country.
