BA in Psychology (in progress)

Jessica is a fourth-year undergraduate student at McGill University, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Behavioural Sciences and Sociology. She is particularly drawn to the impact of mental illness on marginalized communities in Canada. Her interest in this area has been shaped by her experiences as a crisis line responder and through her volunteer work with patients at the Douglas Institute. Jessica is especially intrigued by issues such as time to diagnosis, response to treatment, barriers to care, and the long-term effects of medical mistrust rooted in systemic injustice. After completing her undergraduate studies, she hopes to pursue research that reflects these interests and contributes to making mental health care more accessible, equitable, and better suited to the needs of vulnerable and marginalized communities.

McGill University and the Douglas Research Centre are on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the traditional territory of the Kanien'kehá:ka, one of the founding nations of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. We respect the continued connections with the past, present and future in our ongoing relationships with Indigenous and other peoples within Tiohtià:ke/Montréal and across the country.
