(she/her)
Research Associate
PhD in Psychiatry

Kathleen (or Kat or Katie) began working in the youth mental health sector in 2013 when she was hired as a research assistant at the PEPP clinic for early psychosis. Her favourite part of the job was working with youth and families, especially in trying to understand their journeys to obtaining mental health care. Through this work, she became passionate about uncovering and highlighting the many barriers within the mental health system which complicate young people’s pathways to care. She chose to pursue this line of research through a PhD under the supervision of Dr. Srividya Iyer at ACCESS Open Minds, looking at young people’s experiences of accessing mental health services.  Outside of work, Kat’s interests include being in nature, playing various sports, and cooking.

McGill University and the Douglas Research Centre are on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the traditional territory of the Kanien'kehá:ka, one of the founding nations of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. We respect the continued connections with the past, present and future in our ongoing relationships with Indigenous and other peoples within Tiohtià:ke/Montréal and across the country.
